Hi, this is Veronica. I am the CEO & founder of New Wind, a tech company based at the Trust Valley/EPFL Innovation.
I have the chance to be at the crosswords of many cultures. Born in Rome, raised in Martigny (Valais) with Eritrean heritage. I arrived in Switzerland with my family as an 8-month old baby. As a child, I either spent most of my Wednesday afternoons on the tennis court in Martigny or skiing in Verbier.
I must say: tennis has shaped me in a very particular way. It built my stamina and resilience. By age 10, I was playing over 10 hours per week, learned at a young age to juggle between school, practice and competitions, reaching the Tennis elites by age 14. This entire experience taught me to surpass myself with discipline, devotion and “opiniâtreté”. Qualities that I bring along in various aspects of my life, especially in my entrepreneurship journey that I pursue with eager for perpetual improvement.
If you’re reading this piece, ventures must have no secret to you. You certainly know how much trust is a center piece of any venture building:

- Trust in your team when dealing with external pressure;
- Trust in your advisors when navigating a transformative turning point;
- Even more crucially, Trust in your mentor when sharing some of your deepest self-doubts. Manoj has been this mentor for me.
Earlier this year, at the Trust Village, while I was casually speaking with Pierre the CTO of New Wind, Josua came to us and introduced us to Manoj.
From the second we spoke, I could sense that this was going to be one of those super rare “friends at first sight” encounter. Manoj has this special aura that marks you. He is the type of person who will brighten a room with his intellectual and emotional intelligence. Since then, after every conversation, whether virtual or in-person, I feel energized and convinced that we are on an excellent track. Our conversations are also a testament that whether we are new or already an expert in this field, all of us are figuring it out as we go.
It indeed takes a village to raise a startup. As we are formally registering New Wind, I am beyond grateful to have it being built in a space where this sense of community shapes the heart of our mission: transform your investment experience.
